Wayward Walking

So what if we were "on vacation" or "at a conference". Why wouldn't I still want to go out walking? Exploring new places I would never go if not for wayward walking doesn't stop because I'm away from home. Hotel, motel, airbnb, or someone's home - everywhere is anywhere and I have two feet. Pssst! Nashville, Tennessee has a golf course hiding at the bottom of a steep driveway in the middle of a sleepy suburban neighborhood. At 6:30am it was me, the grounds crew, and fog fairies dancing on the water.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Road trip! If you are driving from Florida to South Carolina, and then you have to be in Tennessee soon after, why not stay in the car and take a few detours? I was a little girl when I last visited the Great Smoky Mountains. I still felt small in the company of the mountains.

It was a gorgeous day for a drive.
And for a few stops along the way.

Cheering for Charleston Cousins

Woe be to the camera-wielding grandma who heeds not the warning of wild things!

It was a family weekend. Four grandchildren, two daughters, and a total of eight adults gathered in one big house. Would everyone get along? With all of our differences, could we happily sit down to a meal together? Indeed! I suspect that these two wild rascals had the most fun out of all of us.

Trashing Red Rock Canyon in 2014

It's all about leveraging the conferences. When we left Las Vegas, we headed to see some of the natural wonders of our country. Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is shockingly beautiful and so different from the East Coast. When I saw the pink painted trash canyons chatting with the eye of the monster I simply couldn't resist a snapshot.

Is it about the destination or the journey?
